Celebrating 50 Years!

Maria's is Celebrating 50 Years of Food and Love

Maria’s is humbled and excited to celebrate 50 years of serving our local neighborhoods. A lot has changed over the past 50 years but a lot has remained the same. What once began as a small market providing fresh ingredients to Brentwood Village blossomed into a full service restaurant serving up delicious, authentic, east coast Italian food to local families for generations. Growing from one location to 8, our values remained the same; serving up fresh homemade food with a smile, because at Maria’s, Food and Love… Same Thing

Brentwood 1972- Our 1st Location

Maria’s Italian Kitchen began as Maria’s Italian Market in Brentwood Village in 1972. The goal was for the marketplace to be a fun, cozy, neighborhood hangout for the local community. The dining space may have started small, but over the years grew to make room for hosting events and celebrations. We even expanded to have outdoor café tables!

Sherman Oaks/Studio City 1985

13 years later Maria’s decided to expand, opening up our second location in Sherman Oaks/Studio City. We wanted to bring a fun “old school” Italian vibe to this entertainment hot spot. When dining in this location you can choose between a more intimate experience, cozying up in one of our booths, or feel like part of the crowd in our outdoor dining area.

Calabasas/Woodland Hills 1988

Only a few years later it was time to grow once more. Maria’s feel in love with the charm of the Calabasas area and decided to open a location there. While the original location unfortunately burnt down, Maria’s took the set back in stride and moved to a new location in 1994.
The current location boasts an amazing outdoor patio area that can be used for private parties and intimate gatherings. With many subtle nuances this location is the perfect place to meet local neighbors and friends of the community. Not to mention there’s a lot of Free Parking!

Encino 1989

Not many know that our Encino location was originally Mike’s Pizza! When Maria’s took over this location, we decided to pay homage to this great local establishment but putting our own twist on Mike’s beloved Garlic Rolls. Hence, Maria’s delicious Garlic Knots were born! Now served at each location, our warm dough knots tossed in olive oil, garlic and parmesan cheese are totally nostalgic to our patrons who grew up enjoys Mike’s garlic rolls.

Northridge 1994

The 1994 Northridge earthquake definitely shook things up, but that didn’t deter Maria’s from opening their fifth location there a month later. Opening on Valentines Day in 1994, this location became a local favorite for date nights and all kinds of love celebrations; engagements, weddings, you name it! Nothing says “I love you,” like a warm plate of homemade pasta and fresh baked rosemary bread.

Agoura Hills 1999

5 years later, Maria’s decided to open up shop in Agoura Hills. When they saw that this location was perfect for dining “Al Fresco” they just couldn’t pass it up! The huge outdoor patio wraps around the entire restaurant space and has misters in place for when the outdoor temps rise during summer. This patio space is perfect for large parties, providing plenty of room while maintaining a quaint and cozy ambiance.

Pasadena/Hastings Ranch Nov. 1999

In November of 1999 Maria’s made a home in Pasadena. As one of the largest locations, this space has bar seating and a dedicated takeout area. It also has a semi-private outdoor patio like in Italy, and tons of Free Parking!
Fun Fact: this locations General Manager started out as a dishwasher! We love to see our dedicated employees grow and move up in ranks at all of our locations.

West LA 2003

Our newest location in West Los Angeles opened almost 20 years ago in 2003. This beautiful storefront is right on the corner. It has an impressive outdoor patio with beautifully maintained greenery and festival lights. Whether eating inside or outside on the stunning patio there is plenty of breathing room. This location is a favorite among the local community for host fundraising events and intimate get togethers.
